Trade and international travel was shown to conribute significantly to a an dangerous distribution of species to inappropriate areas. This  results in a homogenisation of sepcies and a loss of local specific diversity and as a consequence of this in a reduced resilience of ood security in vulnerable areas.

Trade regualtions such as SPS under WTO may not allow appropriate control of this development.
